Orthopaedic Hand Fellowship – University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson

Licensure
All fellows must:
- Graduate from an accredited medical school.
- Obtain and maintain the appropriate Arizona medical license or training permit prior to beginning fellowship.
Failure to do so may delay or revoke appointment.
Visa Sponsorship - The University supports J-1 visas (ECFMG certification required).
H-1B sponsorship may be considered for qualified applicants with USMLE Step 3 completed and Arizona medical licensure in process.
Pre-Employment Requirements - Successful occupational health clearance and drug screening.
- Background check to ensure eligibility for clinical work.
Application Requirements
All applications for the Orthopaedic Hand Fellowship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson must be submitted through the SF Match. The following materials are required to complete your application:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Include your educational history, residency training, clinical and research experience, publications, presentations, and professional society memberships.
- Personal Statement
Outline your professional goals, reasons for pursuing hand surgery, and how our program aligns with your career aspirations.
- Medical School Diploma
A copy of your diploma from an accredited medical school.
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE/Dean’s Letter)
A summary letter from your medical school dean’s office.
- Official Final Transcripts
Transcripts must indicate degree earned and date conferred. Certified or notarized English translations are required for documents in languages other than English.
- Official Test Transcripts
- USMLE (Steps 1–3) or COMLEX transcripts (as applicable).
- Valid ECFMG certification required for international medical graduates (IMGs).
- Letters of Recommendation (3 required)
- At least three letters from faculty or physicians familiar with your clinical performance, surgical skills, and professionalism.
- One letter must be from your Residency Program Director.
- Certificate(s) of Completion
Provide copies of certificates from each prior residency or fellowship program.
