Sharon Stanley, MD

Dr. Stanley joined the University of Arizona Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2024. Prior to this, she was an Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery at LSU-New Orleans, where she worked at University Medical Center New Orleans.
Dr. Stanley completed her undergraduate studies at Rutgers University, majoring in Cell Biology and Neuroscience, with a minor in Psychology. She received her medical degree at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. She completed a General Surgery residency at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, in Manhasset, NY, followed by an independent Plastic Surgery residency at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She then pursued an Orthopedic Hand Surgery fellowship at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK, where she trained under Dr. Ghazi Rayan, one of the past presidents of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. She is double board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, with additional Certification in Subspecialty of the Hand.
Dr. Stanley treats all aspects of the hand and wrist and has a special interest for complex upper and lower extremity reconstructive surgery. This includes microvascular surgery, peripheral nerve surgery (nerve repair, nerve transfers), brachial plexus, and pediatric/congenital hand. She loves the diverse patient population that Southern Arizona has to offer and enjoys teaching residents and medical students.
Outside of work, Dr. Stanley enjoys music, art, spending time with her family, and admiring the wildlife of Tucson.
