Recently, Banner – University Medicine Tucson's Kim Tucker, MD, Kendra Green, associate director of physician practice operations, and several members of Banner – University Medicine’s orthopedic team traveled to Tanzania with the Women Orthopedic Global Outreach (WOGO) program, embodying the very essence of Banner Health’s mission to make healthcare easier so life can be better—not just in the communities it serves, but globally.
In a field where less than seven percent of orthopedic surgeons are women, Dr. Tucker stands as an inspiring role model and change-maker. The impact of their work is nothing short of remarkable—47 total knee replacements performed in just three days. Each surgery represents a life transformed, eliminating debilitating arthritis and restoring mobility to patients who otherwise would continue to suffer.
Dr. Tucker, Kendra and their colleagues remind us that medical missions like this transcend geographical boundaries and institutional walls. It's a powerful demonstration of how our talented B – UMT team members can make extraordinary differences in people's lives.
