Welcome to the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson.
Our ACGME-accredited, one-year fellowship is designed to provide orthopaedic surgeons with advanced, comprehensive training in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries. We offer a unique educational environment where academic rigor is paired with high-volume clinical experience, cutting-edge research, and direct involvement in Division I athletics.
At the University of Arizona, we are committed to developing well-rounded sports medicine physicians who are not only technically proficient in the operating room but also thoughtful, compassionate, and evidence-based in their approach to patient care. Our fellows are integral members of our sports medicine team, managing care for athletes at the collegiate, high school, and recreational levels across Southern Arizona.
Our curriculum is broad and inclusive, encompassing the full spectrum of sports medicine. In addition to arthroscopic and soft tissue procedures, fellows gain exposure to joint preservation techniques and sports-related arthroplasty, preparing them to care for both young athletes and active aging populations.
With dedicated mentorship from experienced faculty, a robust didactic curriculum, and opportunities for research and leadership, our program prepares graduates for a wide range of career paths—including academic medicine, private practice, and team coverage.
Upon successful completion of the program, fellows are eligible to sit for the Subspecialty Certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (CAQ), a key milestone in the professional journey of a sports medicine specialist.
Thank you for considering our program. I invite you to explore what makes the University of Arizona a vibrant and rewarding place to train, learn, and lead.
Warm regards,
