Daisey Vega was awarded a scholarship from the Phoenix Chapter of the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Foundation in recognition of her outstanding scientific achievements. Daisey is a current PhD student in Biomedical Engineering and works as a Research Engineering Technician I in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery under the direction of Dr. Christopher J. Arellano. Her current research efforts are dedicated to uncovering the general principles that govern how muscles and tendons interact and operate to ensure stable locomotion. The long-term goal is to use these insights to diagnose and treat pathologies that prevent normal muscle-tendon function and inform the design of biologically inspired artificial limbs.
