Dr. Brad Askam was Honored with the Graduate Medical Education Award
Dr. Brad Askam was honored at the College of Medicine – Tucson (COM-T) Faculty Excellence Awards on March 10, 2026. The Graduate Medical Education (GME) award represents one of the highest honors for teaching excellence and outstanding achievements in education at COM-T. Dr. Askam was recognized for his work in restructuring the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program. His work resulted in key curriculum enhancements summarized by longitudinal subspecialty exposure, fellowship integration, optimized faculty utilization, and institutional partnerships. His improvements have accelerated the department’s program to national levels of success. The restructuring improves resident exposure diversity, continuity of subspecialty education, and preparation of residents for fellowship applications and successful careers.
